Amelanchier lamarckii — Snowy Mespil
A small tree, introduced from America and now naturalized, and a common street and garden tree.
The flimsy alternate leaves are finely-toothed and have a tendency to hang downwards. The buds are long and pointed, rather like those of Common Beech. The delicate white flowers have five narrow petals. The berries ripen purple in mid-summer.
