Nothofagus obliqua — Roble Beech

The most common of the ‘southern beeches’, introduced from South America at the beginning of the 20th century.

The small, rather oak-like leaves are alternate and grow on herring-bone patterned twigs. The fruit resembles that of Common Beech.
