Sorbus torminalis — Wild Service

A fairly frequent native tree, beginning to be planted as a street tree.

The alternate leaves are reminiscent of a maple, but the veins do not radiate from a point. The buds are pea-like. Relatively small flower-heads give rise to brown 1cm fruit which were formerly brewed into a form of beer.
