| Betula utilis — Himalayan Birch A frequently planted tree, introduced in the mid-19th century.
 The alternate leaves are rather more glossy and rounded than those of Paper-bark Birch. The trunk is sturdy and often fluted and has neater bark than Paper-bark Birch, and in a wide range of colours (most commonly pure-white in var. jacquemontii). The buds have green tips.
