Corylus colurna — Turkish Hazel

An early introduction, increasingly grown as a street tree.

In contrast to Common Hazel, trees form a neat spire shape. The alternate leaves are smarter, shinier versions of those Common Hazel. The buds are hairy. The fruit has long, soft protective prickles.
