Trees of Parker's Piece, Cambridge
Granted that Parker's Piece is mainly grass, there are nonetheless some interesting trees around its boundary, and across the road on Petersfield and along Gonville Place. The rows of mature elm trees are long gone, victims of Dutch Elm Disease (I remember seeing the last one disappear around 1980), but the tall row of Common Limes [L] remain along Parkside. There are five other species of lime present, Crimean Lime [CL] being the most common. Down at the south corner, by the public conveniences, are several Grey Alders [G], rather unusual in a town centre.
