Tsuga canadensis — Eastern Hemlock

An uncommon conifer, introduced from American in the first half of the 18th century.

The yew-like leaves are lemon-scented and have bright white paired bands on the undersides; there is also a characteristic row of miniature upside-down leaves along the top of the shoot.
