Cambridge Tree Locator: J-K

Links in the third column are to maps displaying tree locations. Links in brackets are to  Multimap ; normal links are to specific Cambridge tree maps, the second column containing the abbreviation(s) used for the tree on the map.

Juglans nigra  (Black Walnut)BWA young tree near the NE corner of Christ's Pieces; a larger tree at the SE corner of the junction of Mere Way and Fortescue Road in Arbury [map]. The UK champion is in the Botanic Gardens near the Bateman Street entrance
Juglans regia  (Common Walnut)WaA street tree in larger spaces in some (former) council housing areas, e.g. Akeman Street [map]; there is a fair-sized tree on Midsummer Common near the corner of Brunswick Walk
Juniperus chinensis  (Chinese Juniper)CJA fine tree in the middle of the N side of Coleridge Recreation Ground [map]; the conifer on the south side of Alexandra Gardens also appears to be a Chinese Juniper
Juniperus communis  (Common Juniper) Seen in Cambridge only as cultivars, mainly Irish Juniper (‘Hibernica’) - the best one is midway up the W side of the W section of Storey's Way [map]
Juniperus squamata  (Meyer's Juniper) Should be quite common, but the only one I know is a small bush mid-way along Parkside [map]
Koelreuteria paniculata  (Golden Rain Tree)GoA rather crowded example in All Souls Churchyard in the City Centre; a better example in Histon Road next to the Tandoori Palace Restaurant [map]
